Pokemon is the perfect game for sports! Lol I spend car rides to wrestling matches hunched over playing my DS/game boy! Iits amazingly portable and you can just pick it up and play!

Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver. It may not be an early game, but I still love it.
LeafGreen was the first that I played, Red was the second.

Pokemon Gold, lol, I remember getting it on the original Gameboy, then the Gameboy Colour came out and I was soooooo excited to play it in colour for the first time, it was the first Pokemon I played and it's the only reason I still have a Gameboy Advance... Stupid DS can't play it
