What makes a good game good?

I personally like games with a story. Sort of like Pokemon/Mario. And I most certainly like a challenge

Princess Peach was kidnapped by Bowser.
Mario goes on a quest to save Princess Peach.
He saves her, and gets a kiss on the nose.

Let's say, God of War has a story, and I think every game connects to each other.. I have God Of War 2 for PS2 and it is awesome. It has no repetitive music, and the graphics are fair too.
