Points make the game more competitive and you can use them for sponsoring. And also before MCSGV2 you could use them to bounty but that got removed.

Points add more competitiveness to the game, quite a long time ago you could type /top and it would show you the people with the most points thus giving you an idea of who is better than the other (or something like that ) but then that got removed for some reason I think It was because of that weird bounty glitch, Anyway I think they should have just removed /bounty and kept the /top.

You can also the points to sponsor one another, If you type /sponsor and the persons name after that it gives you a list of items that you can give to that player, but the items come at a price making the points more useful.

And also before MCSGV2 you could type /bounty and then the persons name that you wanted to bounty and the amount of points that you wanted to bounty on that person, and then you would type /bounty yes (or /yes bounty idk) to confirm it. For example, I type /bounty hb01 1,000 and then gcb99 kills hb01 and gets 1,000 points for killing hb01, but hb01 only had 100 points (because he is a noob) so he only lost 5 because the 1,000 points were not hb01's they were misterlukasw's so misterlukasw loses 1,000 points because he was the one who bountied! Sorry gcb XD. You guys will get the joke if you have ever typed /top after the /bounty was added.

TL;DR So basically you can use points for sponsoring a person items and also they just add some competitiveness in to the game which is also nice .

Exactly. But generally points don't determine who is good or not. For example Blamph has 400 points while I have 1800 and I'm not even close to half his skill level
