Why is Breeze Island so popular?

People like breeze island because it was created right when MCSG had a large spike in players. Back before there were so many maps, when MCSG received a new map, everyone wanted to play it. Because MCSG was growing so rapidly at the time, it was all that the new players played, and with voting introduced that contributed to the problem. The new players would get familiar with breeze island, then, because it was the only map they knew, it's what they voted for. Most older players got bored of the map, while new players kept coming in, so when some people started to get bored of the map, new players just got their first taste of it, and they loved it. This trend has continued on to this day, although the problem is nowhere near as bad, it still exists. Breeze island is a map that only takes about 2-3 games to become familiar with unlike other maps. That's why most people like it so much.

In addition to what breadman said, because that was a great explanation, the map is small which makes for short games. The community began to love small maps for short games, because they made for more PvP and less exploration of the map. It also made it faster to win and faster to die, so if no matter if you won or lost, you still wouldn't have wasted that much time off your day and you could play more games after.
There are many other reasons that people like Breeze Island, for one I think it's a pretty nice and well made map other than the tons of water, so people vote for it and more people play it and then they vote for it and so on until everyone explodes. OK, maybe that last part doesn't happen, but still.

Small map, good amount of chests, easy to get away most of the times because of the water and a good looking map overall.

It's not that big, so it's harder for campers and also people are easy to find. It's a pretty unique map as well.

Freeze Island, on the other hand...

The majority of the MCSG audience are younger players, who can't spend enough time in a game. Breeze Island is probably the smalled map, so everyone votes for it.

I personally like smaller maps thats one reason i like it but I also am pretty good with water fights so i can always retreat to the water if land just is working for me that game

Because it's a good teaming map. It's small, there are lots of tier 2 chests in a small vicinity, and most routes are distinct (so you really can get to your island, ship, whatever, and not worry about your vicinity).
Teams have a distinct advantage with boosting, due to the amount of water, and most people team.

Because no one likes long games anymore, everyone only cares about wins. Being this map being the most open and simple map everyone loves it.
