Hello everyone! :D

Over the last few days I have noticed that when I play Minecraft multiplayer (mostly this server) in the evening and night (6pm to nighttime) my ping changes to 3 or 4 bars. (200ms to 300ms). The weird thing is, in the mornings and afternoon I get the normal ping I always get (100 ping) and when I come to play in the evenings it just rises to 250ms. Something even more weird is that when I go on the internet in the evenings my internet speed is normal and fast, as always. In the evenings, when I am watching I YouTube video its not slow at all.... so my internet speed isn't getting effected but my MC ping is... it's so weird. this hasn't been a problem before.

Btw, in the evenings nothing is downloading or uploading and no one really is using the WiFi. (we have wireless)

P.P.S: The computer that I use to play Minecraft is right next to the internet router/modem

I don't blame you if you don't know what's going on, it's really really strange soooo if you think you know what might be causing this peculiar problem just comment on this thread (obviously).

Thanks.

It's likely just your internet. Maybe in the evenings your parents or a sibling might sit down to watch YouTube or a movie on netflix, (from personal experience, when my sister is on netflix or YouTube I drop down to 200-300 ping) but after everyone in my house has gone to bed, I get good ping again. At night is when I usually get the best ping.

Thank you all for trying to help! I might plug in an Ethernet cable and see if that helps me. One thing I know for sure, it's not the Minecraft servers fault it has to be my internet.

It's very likely that the problem is wireless connection. The only other problem I can think of is a broken modem.

It should be stable once you use the ethernet cable. Long story short (I wont go into detail because it involves a lot of physics), if you use wireless, the waves (connection) collides with other waves nearby. Causing interruptions. The ethernet cable is a straight connection that cannot be interrupted.

Another thing you might want to do is if you have any devices that you are currently not using (Iphone, Ipad, etc.), disconnect them from your internet. I always do that when I play games.
