What is the point of having a chest route?

I've won around 150 times and I don't have a chest route. I know a lot of people do and I was wondering what the point of it is. Isn't it boring to go to the same places every time? Isn't it more fun to pvp to get stuff or to run a different way every time and see new things while looking for chests? A chest route just sounds so boring when you can easily find chests in any direction. Is there a purpose or do people just do it to have guaranteed good chests fast?

The purpose is (in my opinion, at least) just having a general sense of direction, and being able to guarantee yourself some loot, if you can get there fast enough.

Having a chest route is kind of like having something to fall back on. If you don't get anything good from corn, you know that you have chests, and a general sense of direction to retreat into and gather some loot.

People like doing chest routes as it means you can quickly gather good armour and weapons so you have an advantage over others who are wandering around

I personally use chest routes, and they're essential. You're putting yourself at a disadvantage. You don't need a super long one, but you're going to want to go for some kind of basic good one. I put a bit of time into my chest routes, and it shows. I win 38% of my games. You however don't use chest routes and you win %19 of your games. It's possible this could also come down to a bit of the PVP department.

Bottom line, chest routes are essential. It doesn't matter if it's the same path, go for the chests and then explore.

If you are that good at pvp you dont need to rely on them, but someone like me who is pretty sucky at pvp, chest routes are a neccesity

I have 2 chest routes a map because if lots of people tend to go to the first one I go for the 2nd one

The legendary player Gravey4rd has a chest route for every single map on MCSG and if you look at his statistics , he wins almost every single game he plays now, if he were to play 50 games , he would probably win about 45 of them . This is present because he has chest routes.
