Are you saying that people should not use the fishingrod? Because you are saying that it does more harm than good, which is true but only with people who are new with using it or just not that good. But if you meant that it's a bad tactic to use then you really are wrong.Ah, I am so glad the "fishing rod strategy" has been popularized here at MCGamer.
Believe it or not, it generally does more harm than good to users. I often find myself fighting people who quite literally waste their time using the fishing rod. Said users will hit me with it thinking they did something effective and gain confidence when in reality, they have done little to nothing.
lelCool, but didn't you leave?
The fishing rod tactic actually helps ALOT.Ah, I am so glad the "fishing rod strategy" has been popularized here at MCGamer.

Okay, I'm sorry, I just help myself...The fishing rod tactic actually helps ALOT.

It's A lot. There's a space
Sure, it slows people down by hitting them from the side and front, knock them into a wall. As for hitting them straight from the back, it can actually boost them a bit or slow them a bit depending if the opponent is on the ground or mid-air. Hitting them straight from the back might be necessarily "useless" but that isn't the case at all. Once you've chased the opponent down until his sprint stops, it's harder for him to notice that his sprint broke. It'll also be harder for your opponent to reset his/her sprint while getting hit with a fishing rod multiple times.Back on topic: What ends up happening is people simply hit others with the fishing rod and think they did something effective.
Although it puts them into a positive mentality, it gives them a false sense of success. Other than that, I really couldn't put it into words. Perhaps tomorrow once I am a bit more awake, I will elaborate a bit.
My personal thoughts in a TL;DR version of the entire subject of fishing rods is: Great for water team tactics and breaking sprint ( i.e. hitting them into a tree or wall while chasing them) however I have yet to see someone use said fishing rod against me in direct PvP in an effective way. Really all I see happening is just a slight delay from when our swords clash as the enemy pushes me back a block or two. Nothing more, nothing less.
It won't break the sprint anymore, thanks to the 1.7 updateHey there, I appreciate your concern.
However, seeing as the ideas being conveyed between Darkrai and I are directly correlated to the thread topic, I am respectfully but assertively going to continue. You label it as a debate when it is simply a discussion in which different opinions and viewpoints are being exchanged.
