You can't block player x-rays...
Says in a rush. Writes an essay.Without reading any of the comments made on this thread yet: (In a bit of a rush here, sorry.)
I can understand how you feel about all of this as a new user. I still remember when I first joined and I had the same feelings as you about such things. (teaming and hacking.) I almost even went as far as to "rage" about teams on the forums, (Well, not really raging, except...no, it was raging.) however before I posted it, I caught myself and tried to see the other side of the argument. (However, I still have some old posts that might hint at it or something.)
Honestly...we can't stop people from teaming. It's simply not possible. Not only will people continue anyway and have a bunch of unnecessary bans, (unless we put in a plugin to automatically stop it...we all know how many problems that could cause.) but it would highly discourage people who had the intent of playing with friends from playing at all, (Which is more than 50% of our players, easy. Trust me.) as well as split our community even more by preventing people from...playing together. There would be no clans, no friends on skype who just want to play a game together...just a bunch of individual people who think of nothing but to kill everyone in sight. This is not what...anyone would really want.
Trust me, you'll get used to teams. I did, and everyone else did. I still play most of my games solo, and most of the ones I win are the ones I play solo. (I play better when I'm not constantly distracted or limited by the actions of my teammates.) Honestly, these days, when I see teams, I'm quite happy about it. (Unless they're huge ones with like 5+ people. :|) It's a challenge to look forward to. Too many of my games these days are just...dull now, which is no surprise after you've won a thousand of 'em.
Hackers on the other hand I don't like to see. Nobody likes to see them. They are a challenge, sure, but not one you're meant to face, not one you can replicate yourself. We do have a anti-cheat to stop them, but it's only so powerful...not because we choose not to use a better one, but because the "better" one is worse for us. We did try stopping aimbot for a while...but people hated it. We know it's capable of such a thing, and while we had it enabled, it showed results, but the amount of interference it had with legit players was insane, and we had numerous players who "quit" because of it. (As for X-ray: Those are separate plugins from the "anti-cheat" we use now to my knowledge. On top of that, most tend to cause tons of lag. We simply do not have room for it in our plugin setup without issues...this isn't even considering the fact that it wouldn't stop chestfinder anyway, which is the true issue for SG. (And I'll admit I know nothing about a anti-sprint hack thing, so I cannot elaborate on that.))
Sadly, it's not always as easy as installing a anti-hacking type of plugin. The amount of configuration it requires to be perfect is insane. The hacked clients are being developed farther every day...and it gets harder and harder to block them every day. Especially now, since Nodus died, we've been seeing a few new hacks not yet blocked by our anti-hacking plugin, (Although most are minor and easy to catch.) and more are to come as people find more and more new clients that are infinitely better than Nodus ever was...
The anti-hack plugin we use (NoCheatPlus, or NCP.) we have next to no control over whatsoever. It's devs are amazing, but we cannot expect them to block every hack right as it becomes available, or to always be instantly blocking the new workarounds the hacked clients create. We can block most hacks really reliably, except the very, very rare exception that gets by, but for some of them, like aimbot and sprint...it's not as easy as hitting a "block this hack" button on NCP without causing some sort of issue.
We are banning hackers every day, including a good amount that get reported by regular users through our report abuse section. Sadly, I hate to break it to you...but there will always be hackers out there, and there is nothing we can do about it but to keep banning them. It would be great if it were as simple as a plugin that blocked all hacks without issues, then there would truly be no false bans, nobody getting killed by hackers, a lot less work on the staff so we could focus on other issues...but such a plugin does not, and will not, exist. It's simply not possible.

Dude.... I can kill teams and I'm not even that good.billyguy1, JohnnySmasher
Empty arguments. It's elementary. It may be fun for those who team, but it is unfair for other players that cannot do the same.
If they banned teams I would resign and quit MCSG, teaming is the most fun thing to do. Usually when I team I don't stay with my partner, but still teaming on Skype or TeamSpeak is very enjoyable. I'm pretty sure they will never ban teams, it would be very silly if they tried to, people love playing with their friends, if you takeout that aspect then a lot of people would stop playing. Your arguments are not the most valid if I'm honest.billyguy1
Great help. If you just want to piss people off, do so elsewhere.
TimmaaaaH
It might be a point that these plugins could cause laggs.
However, your points on why teaming should be allowed are invalid, for
- the chance of people teaming would surely decrease if teaming is officially forbidden and
- even if it isn't that OP, it still is an advantage that can be prevented(at least partially).
And it remains that some SG-Team members approve teaming.

If it is that there are no Anti-Hack plugins that disable Aimbot, ChestFinder etc., please infrom me how you are sure of that.
The Arena Master
First off, read my reply to billyguy1.
Then the other one to TimmaaaH.
And next, tell me if you really have informed yourself enough about Anti-Hack plugins. I am quite sure that you can disable X-Ray, or at least make the hack useless.
Ninetailefox92
I cannot agree on your point stating that it is easy to report people hacking, for
- it is not that all players have a recording software ready while playing and
- when it is that a video proof is made, you often cannot be completely sure whether the player under suspicion is hacking or having lagg issues.
JohnnySmasher, BlueHeron
Same as TimmaaaaH.
I would like to see some more support of your arguments, though.
Résumé:
I say that your answers to my question about the hacking issue seem valid, but need more support.
I say that my point on the teaming issue still stands.
