Wait wut. Ive spent 200+ hours practicing with a fishing rod...
Can someone link me? I want to see where this was comfirmed

There is no link. It hasn't been confirmed. ._.

...It doesn't work in the new update snapshots because those of you who tested it didn't have a stable Bukkit (Or an alternative.) installed. I can almost guarantee you that it will still work on MCSG and virtually every other server worldwide in the next update. Minecraft has never allowed it to hit players, that's Bukkit, and there is almost nothing Mojang can do to stop Bukkit from making it work.

If it doesn't work in the next update, Mojang is likely not to blame. >.>

Is this actually going to happen? Because I think that would take away a lot... I might leave....

I'm very happy, fishing rods were my one weakness and I never wasn't really good at using them.

^This. You guys I'm fairly positive that fishing rods will still be usable for PvP. As long as we have bukkit.

It's a bukkit thing nothing to worry about guys as G33ke stated Mojang can not be blamed. And I am quite positive it will still work with MCSG.

I haven't read all of the pages on this thread, so I'm going to answer this for you even if somebody already did.
It's all rumours, with the snapshots people found that fishing rods didnt interact, this has always been the case, it's the Bukkit plugin that makes it interact, causing the knock back effect. As far as I know fishing rods will most likely be usable in pvp.
