Lol I think you misunderstand me. I have nothing against the plug-in we are currently using. It does great at the jobs it does. It stops people from using all the things you said it does. I do still see the occasional, what i like to call "feather fallers", where they glide themselves all the way to the ground. I kinda consider that flying.. with style. I am not a dev or anything.. obviously.. but I do know making plug-in and adding them isn't easy and takes alot of time. We are just throwing ideas out there in hopes that the dev do these someday.
The only thing I really care about in this thread.. is just taking up the hacker punishments. A month first offense, perma 2nd. I think that's fair.
Every hacker will claim they've changed their ways. How do we know who to believe? I don't think it'd work that well.Which is what the appeal thing is for ;P
I think it should not be permanent, but the ban time should be infinite on first offence of hacking, but appealed through if there was a mistake or they've changed their ways.
It's similar to now except at the moment they are unbanned automatically in a week on first offence.Every hacker will claim they've changed their ways. How do we know who to believe? I don't think it'd work that well.
I suppose it is. But it's different in principle. That would be saying "If you've changed, we'll let you play again." While currently it's saying "You have 1 more chance to obey the rules." It's similar, but it feels different. It's hard to explainIt's similar to now except at the moment they are unbanned automatically in a week on first offence.
That's actually a good point. I am not sure why our anti-cheat (NCP) doesn't block that but anyways I only know of ONE hacked client that has glide, as it's called in the hacked client, implemented and it's not nodus so it's not as common and actually I haven't seen that on our servers yet. I know people have used it but I personally have never seen it on our servers.
And as for the change in ban time, we actually have discussed this in the past before and the time we came up with is actually an equal balance of fairness and strictness. In other words, it's not too harsh like a perm ban on first offense yet it's not too forgiving like a 1-3 day ban of a first offense and a perm to on like the 5 offense. This also allows them a chance to change there ways or see the error of there ways and stop. This also allows a little room for mistakes, cause there is always going to be mistakes. Some people get HORRIBLE lag that can at some times look like major hacks.
So that explains the head spasms.Alright, since Tal_Pal made a long post up there I thought it would be fair for me to state how the plugin works. Essentially there are invisible people flying above a players head while he PvP's. No one can see the invisible person, but the hacks see it, and start alternating between that and the person they're fighting. If the person flying above gets hit too many times, the player is kicked/tempbanned/banned. This works because the person only appears when the real player HITS another player. Making it literally impossible to look up and hit the floating NPC in time. It does NOT affect normal players in ANY way by checking the number of times they hit and whatnot and is a LOT less laggy (rather than constantly monitoring every single players speed, orientation, POV, reach, etc.)
I have actually seen that "gliding" hack quite a bit. I mean obviously its not as common as sprint hacks/water walking, but it has for sure increased in the past few months. Heck, I have video evidence of 3 teammates using it at the same time, along with bsm/water walking/ and tons of others xD. It was pretty interesting to watch haha.
Problem with this whole "change their ways" idea tho, is that with a week long ban, they really don't learn anything. A lot of hackers just hop on their 1 or 2 other accounts, and can simply play on those until the ban on their other account is gone. With a longer ban, even if it was 3 weeks.. or a month, they are gonna have to have quite a bit of alt accounts. And if all their accounts are getting banned for a month first offense, they aren't gonna be as interested in waiting for that month long ban to be over with. I think they will think twice more about a month long ban, than a 1 week ban where they can just jump on alts and its like they were never banned at all.
Not everyone has alt accounts. And just because they hack doesn't mean they have alts. The week ban is more of a "Hay, stop hacking or face serious consequences" if they don't realize that and hack when there ban is up then they get perma banned.
So it's like the official warning for them to stop hacking before we perm ban them. Some listen and stop hacking and others don't and get perm banned when we catch them. The alts usually hold the same fate. Without actually checking each and every person, there is no way for us to tell if he is using an alt to bypass a ban or not unless they admit it.
You do need proof. Then the hacker can appeal, ask for proof of them hacking, and there is none. Auto-unban. Sure, there will always be errors in the system like you claim your ban to be, but there are bound to be mistakes made in any legal-like system.I got banned for BSM and I wasn't using it. Tried a ban appeal, they were so stubborn about their opinion. Sometimes "hackers" aren't really hackers. Let's ban the players that have forcefield, aimbot, kill aura, fly, and water walking before we accuse someone of using BSM when they weren't. The way I've noticed it lately is, there are so many more hackers lately. Everyone can't record, everyone can't upload. I've tried to get Mods into games with hackers so they could ban them, it always goes down to. "Not enough proof." If they're obviously hacking, ban them, you don't need anymore proof.
