I like Survival Games 1. Not just for the nostalgia, I think it's legitimately a good map.

Why? I don't really know, oddly enough maps such as this one and Hell Games appeal to me. Even though other players generate hate through it, for some different opinions such as the size, chest placement and theme.

Personally I love the theme as it feels as if it's the actually basement of the games, nothing too weird (but unique), just nice and simple gameplay. The size I believe is perfect, but that may be biased as I love long games. The chest placement is perfect except player's tend to hate it because everything isn't in plain site like most maps such as SG4 etc, the chests are hidden in ruins, within caves, waterfalls, trees and secret tunnels. It comes in as one of my favourite maps. :)

A second bloodbath would be nicer if it wasn't less than 2 minutes after the games started, imo. A few people die at corn, then a few more at the boat. Over half the tributes can easily be gone within 2-3 minutes, and that's not really fun :/ Personally I'd love to see the huge amount of chests on the boat removed entirely, or have the boat removed, and then have 2 smaller boats in the ocean (on opposite sides of the map), with 2-3 double chests each.
In the book (I know MCSG isn't completely modeled after it) 12 tributes die within the first day. So having half the tributes die within 2-3 minutes seems good.

Yeah but the actual hunger games can last for weeks, while these only last for 30 min, no matter what.

I personally love SG1, it's a great map, and it's the only ma that actually relates and somewhat feels like the actual "Hunger Games" written by Suzanne Collins.
There are quite a few puzzles, secret areas, and traps. I love the add ins if this map
The terrain is excellent, and it's always amazing to explore parts of the map.
I don't know why people say there are no chests in it, there are so many, however, almost all of them re hidden in areas, I think people complain about this because they're too used to seeing boring out in the open chests.
It's so much more fun and exciting to discover hidden chests, puzzles, and secret areas in the map.
However, there is a few flaws in my opinion.
1. It is extremely hard to navigate, when there are no landmarks, everything looks the same, making it hard to discover puzzles and secret areas.
2. Every time I play it, it's almost always over 25 minutes or forced deathmatch due to the largeness of the map.

SG1 is still a great map and I personally love it and put it as number 3 in my favorites list.

My point is, many other environment based maps are quite lacking, things like fortress pike, SG3, Hungry hills, and castle Dracula seem to truly miss the punch when it comes to creating a good nature built map. Which kind of brings me to a loosely related point - Breeze island and Insanity cause. They got it right.
I agree that SG1 is a really good map, and in my opinion has the most Hunger Games feel next to SG3.
But I strongly disagree with you on your second point, Fortress Pyke is among my favorite maps, as is SG3. While I can occasionally get some fun pvp in Breeze, Insanity Cause has no redeeming factors whatsoever, and both maps are pretty poorly made (in my opinion). They don't begin to compare to SG1, SG3, or Fortress Pyke. (Why do you think Insanity Cause is never played...)

I suppose the boat is one of the things that should be nerfed. As Halfsquirrel said, a bunch of people goes to the boat, leaving a huge part of the map empty. If the boat didn't have all those chests, people might actually start exploring.

And even though I love the tiny amount of chests and buildings there are, a building or two extra in the more deserted areas might actually liven the map up more.

I disagree, because of the mechanics of minecraft PvP, not nearly as many people die at cornucopia as in the books, the boat is small cramped, and hard to escape from and essentially serves the purpose that the corn can't.

Don't use white or close to white text please, it's invisible on the Survival Games design and on mobile devices.

I wrote in the default MCSG color, which everyone writes in, in fact your post was written in the same color as mine was...
